"Five Deadly Venoms" Gets All-Star Makeover
Source: Crienglish
The 1978 kung fu classic from Hong Kong, "Wu Du", or "Five Deadly Venoms" - listed as number 11 on Entertainment Weekly Magazine's "Top 50 Cult Movies" - will be brought back to silver screen in an English-language remake to be directed by Kirk Wong.
A similar plot to the original work will be retained: a dying kung fu master instructs his last student, played by Hong Kong actor Edison Chen, to check on the whereabouts of five former pupils, each of whom has learnt a special venomous style of kung fu, and to kill evil along the way.
The setting of the story will be changed from ancient China to a modern imaginary city. And a female role, to be played by ex-model Maggie Q, will be introduced as one of the five pupils, supplementing the former all-man team.
The director is eyeing off "Lust, Caution" star Lee-Hom Wong, kung du actor Wu Jing, pop star Huang Xiaoming and singer RZA of the US rap group Wu-Tang Clan---who is a mega fan of kung fu and the 1978 film---to play the other four pupils.
The film is scheduled to start shooting in October.

TVB's calendar has always shown strong significance, February is definitely going to have a huge star, in Nov itis anniversary month, you'll be able to see who is the #1 brother and #1 sister, as for which newcomers can be successfully chosen, we will know who's heavily supported by the senior managements, this calender can be said to be "object of contention."
The 2008 TVB calendar also shows great importance to Taiwan, firstly starting from September 7, a total of 24 artists will arrive, shooting a total of four photographs in the Almanac, the other is the idol Mike who will also participate representating of Taiwan. The year before a high end Thailand fashion magazine company was responsible for the calender, this year it'll be done by director Stanley Kwan, also serving as creative director as well. Since this year is TVB's 40th anniversary, incollaboration of the celebration, Stanley Kwan will focus on TVB's classic scenes from the past, for example shooting the Shanghai Bund, they'll be building the set at the back mountain of the studio, and of course including shots in Taiwan.
Starting September 7, including Charmaine Sheh, Jessica Xuan, Roger Kwok, Bosco Wong, Kevin Cheng etc. will be arriving in Taiwan, TVB's commands are strong, as Moses Chan specially flew to report from Tibet, not filming more than a day he then went back to filming. As for the artists collaborating in the calendar, Hong Kong has still classified as top secret, not willing to disclose, the media was only able to film Adam Cheng entering the set, and rumoured couple Bosco Wong and Myolie Wu, in the past calender arrangements, they wouldn't be set together in one month.
