"Five Deadly Venoms" Gets All-Star Makeover

Source: Crienglish

The 1978 kung fu classic from Hong Kong, "Wu Du", or "Five Deadly Venoms" - listed as number 11 on Entertainment Weekly Magazine's "Top 50 Cult Movies" - will be brought back to silver screen in an English-language remake to be directed by Kirk Wong.

A similar plot to the original work will be retained: a dying kung fu master instructs his last student, played by Hong Kong actor Edison Chen, to check on the whereabouts of five former pupils, each of whom has learnt a special venomous style of kung fu, and to kill evil along the way.

The setting of the story will be changed from ancient China to a modern imaginary city. And a female role, to be played by ex-model Maggie Q, will be introduced as one of the five pupils, supplementing the former all-man team.

The director is eyeing off "Lust, Caution" star Lee-Hom Wong, kung du actor Wu Jing, pop star Huang Xiaoming and singer RZA of the US rap group Wu-Tang Clan---who is a mega fan of kung fu and the 1978 film---to play the other four pupils.

The film is scheduled to start shooting in October.

Miriam Guest Host for Roadshow with Edison Chen

Miriam was the guest host for "RoadShow". Edison Chen and Mark Lui were invited to be interviewed by her. Miriam will not invite any special guests for her concert in October. Edison is in charge of designing the concert souvenirs including T-shirt, glasses, braclet, necklace and hand phone string. Miriam said that this God brother is usually filial to his family members, hence he will not charge too high of a fee by helping his God sister. She also asked Edison to help her design the concert booklet. Miriam's boss Lin Jianyue has asked her not to make too many requests. Miriam said her concert was 50 pages thick, her requests won't be as many as the company's.

Miriam knew that Edison is currently filming a movie and asked him if his co-star Huang Xiaoming is handsome in real person. Edison replied he had only filmed one scene with him and didn't see clearly, but he thinks he's friendly. "I can bring you to the set or help you get his autograph. He should be very happy!" Miriam then replied, "Everyone says he's handsome, even my mum and aunties. I also saw him in 'Shanghai Bund' and 'Condor Heroes'. My mum asked me to get his autograph, but I missed him during Hong Kong Film Awards."

Edison's character and behavior are often being criticized. As his God sister, Miriam feels he's just being too straightforward and when he met unfairness or before communicating, he already reacts. Hence sometimes it's too extreme and causes misunderstanding, just like older self. But she thinks since Edison has opened a company and nourished with love, he has become more steadfast.

Miriam has invited her God brother Edison Chen to design her concert souvenirs, including T-shirt, glasses, bracelet, necklace and hand phone string etc. Miriam said that she has no time to take care of the souvenirs matters therefore needed someone whom she can trust to be in charge of it. She knows Edison is always creative in the area of fashion so she's reassured to let him handle it.

Luckily for them, a few friends from the entertainment circle, including Shawn Yue, Edison Chen, Gillian Chung, Stephy Tang and Isabella Leong, have agreed to star in the film at a discounted, friend’s price.

Edison Chen Give Reporters the Middle Finger

Edison Chen is well known for his hot headed personality and since entering the industry, the actor-singer has been involved in many scandals. Recently, he was sentenced to a one year good behaviour bond and fined $1000 after kicking a taxi when having a fight with the driver. On Friday, Edison was spotted in the streets with his girlfriend, Vincy Yeung and when he noticed that they were being followed, Edison turned around and gave the reporters the middle finger.

Edison entered the entertainment industry a few years ago and was popular among the ladies for his good looks and he soon opened his own clothing store with great success. In 2006, Edison became the CEO of his own company at the age of only 26 years old. The actor-singer, who has been involved in many rumours with female celebrities, announced that he is currently dating Albert Yeung’s niece, Vincy Yeung and swore to wed her soon. But when the public were convinced that he had finally matured, Edison continued to cause trouble by being involved in a brawl with a cab driver and was soon sentenced with a behaviour bond.

It seems that despite the punishment, this CEO has not learnt his lesson but instead, has worsened. On Friday night, reporters spotted Edison’s car going down a Wanchai road, but when his driver noticed that they were being followed, Edison and his girlfriend immediately got off the car. Edison and Vincy found refuge at a office building and the performer was seen popping his head out once in a while to see if anyone was following. When he believed that there were no reporters watching, holding onto Vincy tightly, Edison ushered her away quickly.

Soon, Edison realised that they were still being followed and to express his annoyance, he stuck out his middle finger at the paparazzi. He then put his finger in his mouth to show his absolute disgust. Worried that Edison was to get in trouble again, his driver drove the car over and sped off when Edison and Vincy were on.

It seems that Edison Chen could not care less about the behaviour bond.

Jolin Tsai Gives Flowers, Edison Chen Turns Red

Monday June 25, 2007 Taiwan

Edison Chen sure is popular! Yesterday, he was at Taipei holding an autograph session, and the just-released single music queen Jolin Tsai went up and gave him flowers, making him turn red. Edison explained why he suddenly turned shy; it's because when he talks to Jolin, it's usually through MSN, and they don't see each other face-to-face often, so that's why he felt a bit embarassed.

Edison and Jolin met because of working on the Pepsi ads together, and then Jolin just broke up with Jay Chou, so Jolin and Edison maintained a safe distance from each other, even though the friendship wasn't very deep, but they'd amicably help each other if help was needed. Edison was in one of Jolin's MV before ("Mr. Q") as the male lead, and Jolin has always been appreciative of that, so yesterday, just returning from mainland China for a show, she went directly from the airport to Edison's event, showing her sincerity.

Jolin talked about what she thinks about Edison on-set, saying that Edison is a very smart person, "too smart over his head" (literal translation -- just meaning that he's TOO smart). Then one of the staff members pointed out that Jolin is also a "smart person", except she's smart enough to be able to take care of -- usually she doesn't speak much, so when she's accepting interviews, it seems like she doesn't speak a lot, but when it's an important event, she'll say things very smoothly, so when she's at an awards ceremony, that's why her speeches are so eloquent.

Xiao S pulls shirt, Edison reveals flowery underwear

Edison went on "Kang Xi Lai Le" yesterday and Xiao S publicly pulled up his shirt, revealing his flowery underwear. Xiao S was interrogating Edison about his relationship with girlfriend Vincy and said that he was young and handsome so he shouldn't settle down so early. She even had a bet with him of 10 000 TW money that they will break up by end of next year the most. Edison said that he has been with Vincy for 3 and a half year already and definitely won't break up. He also finds her very unique. She always has her own ideas and doesn't watch his movies or listen to his songs much.

Style Icons: Edison Chen x Stephen Chow Release Hot Selling Tees

Edison Chen, who has not released an album for 3 years, yesterday held a press conference in Shanghai. Fans at the event prepared a 3 month early birthday cake for the actor-singer and were welcomed by him in Shanghainese. On the other hand, the Edison Chen x Stephen Chow t-shirts are on sale today but people were already seen lining up outside the shop last night.

Edison’s press conference for his new album was held at a five star hotel in Shanghai, which attracted hundreds of fans. The performer was ready to face his mainland fans by learning some Shanghainese beforehand and when singing his supporters, Edison repeatedly said ‘Hi’, causing the fans to squeal in delight.

During the function, a fan brought a cake on stage but Edison did not understand what it was for until he heard the fans singing happy birthday. Edison’s birthday is on the 7th of October, meaning that the fans celebrated his birthday 3 months early! When asked about his birthday wish, Edison said, “Birthday wish? I hope that this new album sells well!”

Regarding his latest album, Edison told fans to take notice of the lyrics because most of it describes him and his girlfriend, Vincy Yeung. Edison commented, “Previously there were many negative reports and step backs, making people misunderstand me. I want to tell people this is what I am like. Hopefully people can learn to understand me.”

Meanwhile, the Edison x Stephen t-shirts are on sale today at Stephen’s Tsim Sha Tsui store. But approximately 40 people were already queuing up in front of the store yesterday at 4pm. It has been reported that the tees designed by the two mega stars will be hot items in the bidding market and so many will be stocking up to make money. Not only will there be 100 t-shirts released today, but also shirts and 2 special edition t-shirts that will be given to the costumer who buys the most items at the store today.

Edison Chen's Limited Stephen Chow Shirts a Big Hit

Sunday July 8, 2007 Hong Kong

Caption: Many people waited outside Edison Chen's store to buy a limited edition of a Stephen Chow shirt.

Since introducing his own apparel label, Clot, Edison Chen Koon Hei collaborated with Stephen Chow Sing Chi to create a limited edition of a Clot Dragon Worker Shirt and fast-food worker t-shirt.

The shirts feature several of Stephen's classic lines such as, "You don't wear clothes this way!" and "It's a waste of my breath talking to you!" The shirts are targeted towards a trendy, young crowd. The shirts went on sale yesterday at 12 noon. However there was only a limited release of 400 shirts. Many fans slept in front of Edison's stores the night before to make sure they were the first on line to purchase the shirts.

More than a dozen people lined up in front of the stores. The police came to disband the customers, to prevent possible chaos breaking out.

Several imitation versions of the Clot Dragon shirts have cropped up for sale on the internet. The t-shirts also feature Stephen Chow's classic lines, priced from $99 to $200 (HKD). This was vastly cheaper than the original Clot Dragon shirts, which cost $680 (HKD).

Edison's representative, Mr. Ngai was aware of the imitation versions available online, but urged fans to support the original Clot Dragon shirt.

Edison is currently not in Hong Kong. Since Stephen Chow was worried about possible chaos on the shirts' first day of sale, he did not make a personal appearance.

This is a version of Stephen Chow's fast-food t-shirt found on Yahoo's auction site:
